The fashion community is running on full
steam at the moment, as editors, bloggers and photographers alike explore the
city’s press days. For me, this is a busy and enjoyable experience. Stylishly
adorned event rooms, with rails of beautiful clothing, accessories and beauty
products. What’s not to like?
As joyful as this adventure is, it can and
does get a bit ‘samey’…one room merges into another when you’ve been to seven
in one day! PR companies and Marketing departments all work overtime to produce
a memorable experience, much to the delight of us attending fashion folk, but
it’s a real challenge to stand out from the crowd.

When the door was opened (by an incredibly
polite gentleman resembling a railway scene extra from Brief Encounter) I knew
I had the right place! The grand staircase, oak floors, ornate flower displays
and candlelight all set within the spectacular eighteenth century building – it
could only be in the interest of fashion!

Being transported back in time to a bygone era
was the perfect context in which to view the treats in store for A/W by Ted Baker. Vintage style rules the moment with an eclectic mix of 1950’s style full
skirts, soft floral prints and faux fur. Inspired by nostalgia, but as always cutting
edge and modern, the range also incorporates a number of current trends
including bold digital prints and flashes of neon.
Unfortunately, photographs of the garments
were temporarily forbidden, but I have been assured these will be shared in the
near future. Frustrating – I know, but trust me on this…the collection is worth
the wait!
