A Woman’s Right to Chanel

Fashion icon, Carrie Bradshaw famously said;

"...it's not about the money. I don't care about the money.

I'm talking about a woman's right to shoes."

Any fellow S&TC enthusiast will naturally know that she was referring to the Manolo’s she was forced to remove when attending a child’s party, that were subsequently ‘accidentally’ taken by someone else (aka. stollen!!!).

Much to the despair of my mother, my friends and my now husband I have held this sentiment dear for many years. It’s amazing how generally applicable it is...You simply substitute the word ‘shoes’ for whatever your heart desires and bingo, you have your justification to whip our your credit card and purchase your latest lust item.

Regrettably, this approach does have its limits. While we may manage to convince ourselves, and maybe even our loved ones, that we indeed do have the right to yet another pair of Louboutins, there comes a time when the bank manager will disagree!

For anyone who spends their time wistfully flicking through the pages of Vogue and dreaming about the delights of Chanel, that ‘credit card says NO’ moment comes sooner rather than later. Many of us will never be fortunate enough to own a 2.55 bag or boucle jacket, but the universal truth remains that we have the right...right?

The answer is yes, and you don’t have to sell a kidney to achieve it!

You can wear Chanel’s latest hue every day for as little as around £25. Chanel’s Rouge Coco Lipsticks are fabulous and give any look that flawless, polished finish you associate with the brand.  Marilyn Monroe said,

"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world."

I say, give her Chanel lipstick and she will...

Invest in two shades; a vibrant red and subtle nude, for lip-smacking looks to compliment any ensemble. They’ll take you from the desk to the dance floor with minimum effort and maximum confidence!

Trademark boucle can also be yours for the bargain price of £9 (plus a little time and effort). With some help from your granny, some knitting needles and Rowan British Sheep Breeds Boucle, you can knit yourself your very own Chanel inspired hat (see above). You can even find a free patten on knitting resource ravelry.com

So, what are you waiting for? You have the right to Chanel!
